The world has gone digitalized, and the work has been shifted online. Meanwhile, many businesses are struggling in mortar and brick stores, and they also grabbed this opportunity to leverage their businesses.

In the same way, the gym and fitness industries have also been revolutionized as they tried to target their online masses. There has been a rise in online workouts and at-home gym sessions.

But I’ve seen many people struggling to make a start in this niche. Lack of knowledge of technology is something hard nut to crack for them as it has become immensely important to make your presence online. But hey, you don’t need to worry if you are reading this as I have covered your back. A digital camera is one of the few things that you need to upstart your work. So, here I’ll discuss some of the Best cameras for fitness vlogging, plus my 5 years of experience as a vlogger will help you.

If you want a not too costly camera with all the required features, Sony a7R II is the one that I’ll suggest without hesitation. With only $1150, you can get impressive specs. Still, if you think you want something cheaper, I would love to discuss some more options that I enjoyed while filming. Let’s get straight into it.

5/5

Special Features:

  • Best value for money camera.

Overview:

Well, Sony is stepping up its game in the camera industry, and again they bamboozled everyone with its beamer, known as Sony a7R II Mirrorless camera, also my today’s product of recommendation. And, you know what the best part of this camera is? It is the world’s first camera with a 35mm wide BSR sensor.

You have no problem covering your fitness-related tutorial on a sunny day or indoors under low light.

Even though the camera comes at a pretty affordable price, it has many higher-end specs. a7R II comes with a 42 MP lens, the second-highest resolution in Sony’s “R” series. And if you’re like me, an obsessive pixel-peeper and the one who is psychologically attached to the images’ sharpness and details, then nothing can go wrong with this camera.

Plus, it also has hybrid autofocus and in-body image stabilization. These specs won’t let you lag in vlogging career, especially indoor gym or fitness shooting.

Since I am talking about the best cameras for fitness and gym vlogging, there is a unique thing about Sony a7II R that makes it second to none is its sharp and quick autofocus (AF).

The camera boats a 399-point phase detection-autofocus system that is quite sharp and has high accuracy while tracking the objects. Isn’t it amazing?

Looking at the body anatomy of the camera, it is secured in magnesium alloy. The buttons are superbly solid and tight in the place.

The front side has a large sensor, and the backside features a 76 mm widescreen that gives you complete control over the camera. Yes, a7R II has wifi connectivity that allows you to edit and transfer the data across your devices without any problem. There is absolutely no doubt in choosing this product as my best camera for fitness vlogging.

Overview:

Some people may think that Sony a7R II can be expensive for them. I would like to share my experience with Canon EOS M6 with you this time. Canon launched a hot deal in the form of the EOS M6 that has uniformity in both qualities. Compatible, features-rich box, with easy grip in hand, this camera is par excellence.

The 24 MP APS-C sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus, boy oh boy, could be the deal of the day in such a small price bracket. It has surprisingly strong face tracking, and indoor result at such a price is pretty accurate.

EOS M6 records video in full HD section with software-based stabilization. Additionally, the camera can also do a 4K recording without stabilization. You can skip 4K recording as people don’t usually have 4K screens.

On a side note, the small body makes the camera quite handy and comfortable for an average person as long as you aren’t a 6.5 inches dude. In that case, you might need to customize a camera as per your needs. The footage isn’t cutting edge, but the camera takes decent shots assuming the price. Also, wireless connectivity like wifi plus Bluetooth is there to ease your editing and filming process.

Personal thoughts:

Being in the field of fitness filming as an assistant, I think this camera can be an excellent seizing opportunity for a newbie in this field. The hallmark features of the Canon EOS M6 are the good indoor video quality with stabilization, accurate autofocus, and an easy-to-carry camera. If you are just starting, you should place this camera in your cart to think upon.

3- Panasonic LUMIX G7 4K (Perfec For Newbies)

USER RATING: 4.8/5
4.5/5

Special Features:

  • Multiple modes for 4K shots
  • Optical stabilization
  • Sharp viewfinder
  • Precise autofocus
  • Affordable 4K Camera.

Overview:

Like my previous little champ EOS M6, LUMIX G7 4K by Panasonic is another affordable camera that offers some impressive specs in as little amount as $597.

The significant differences between both cameras are that the 4K of LUMIX G7 is much smoother (Lag-free) than EOS M6. Secondly, the EVF of LUMIX G7 is pretty bright and sharp than the latter one. With increasing a bit of the budget, a vlogger can get comparatively much better 4K shots.

Again, a vlogger who is just starting, Panasonic LUMIX G7, can be a good option with better 4K videos and shots. Although the company doesn’t enrich the camera with in-body image stabilization, it has optical stabilization that can cover minor handshakes and ever walking quite accurately.

With the price as low as $597, they are already offering 4K, so skipping 5-axis stabilizations can be understood.

Considering this mid-range price segment, I think a fitness vlogger would not want to miss this gem just for this minor glitch.

The autofocus of LUMIX G7, a vlogger’s look-in thing in a camera, is outstanding. The locking at the face, tracking the fast-moving object, recording the high-dynamic shots with a perfect balance between contrast and saturation are some are the hallmark features of the LUMIX G7 4K.

On the other hand, this entry-level mirrorless camera comes in a tight body that could be pretty comfortable for a vlogger, especially those who like to hold the camera in hand compared to on the stand.

The body is made of plastic, buttons are small and compact, the screen is shiny and bright, controls are somehow resistive yet responsive, and customization is also allowed.

Specifications:

Camera dimensions: 125 x 86 x 77 mm, 542 grams
Camera type: SLR
Lens Type: Mirrorless
Sensor type: 17.3 × 13.0 mm, Four-thirds CMOS sensor
Megapixel count: 16 MP
Monitor screen: 76 mm wide LCD screen with 1.04 million dots resolution
Stabilization: O.I.C (Optical image stabilization)
Maximum picture resolution: 4K at 30fps
Maximum continuous shooting speed: 7fps
Storage type: Supports SD/SDHC memory card (UHS-I + UHS-II)
Viewfinder: OLED EVF (Electronic viewfinder), 2.36 million dots resolution
User expertise: Intermediate/Expert
Zoom: 3x

Reason To Buy?

  • Good quality 4K videos
  • Performance is fast and accurate
  • In-built flash
  • Focus mode is excellent

Reason To Avoid?

  • Not a strong build
  • 4K video capturing is only limited to 8 MP JPG

Personal thoughts:

Again, in the price range of $500-$600, I have too many cameras to discuss from. Choosing LUMIX G7 can be a good decision as it provides 4K shots with better quality, even indoors. Fast-blazing autofocus, optical image stabilization, and many customization options allow a vlogger to adjust as per their need. Looking at the specs, this camera must be on your watch list.

4- DJI Osmo Action (Pocket Friendly Camera)

USER RATING: 4.7/5
4.6/5

Special Features:

  • Small and compact 4K camera
  • Easy to carry and record vlogs
  • Waterproofing up to 10 meters without a case
  • Image stabilization
  • Affordable mini action camera

Overview:

While discussing the best cameras for fitness vlogging, my list is incomplete without mentioning the action camera by DJI. I got a chance to have a shot with this mini-cam. This small yet handy cam is called DJI Osmo Action- 4K camera.

A vlogger who travels a lot to cover different gym sessions, record models, and teach the lessons, this camera can be helpful due to its size and specs. In addition to this, Osmo Action is also fit for extreme sports and gym sessions.

One whooping feature is that it does have 4K recording in a price bracket of $400. Plus, it provides software-based image stabilization that can cover shaky hands, cycling, and walking over treadmills.

With its modular design, Osmo action reimagines the category of action cameras. It does boost a COSMOS sensor with somehow average autofocus.

This lens is interchangeable and gives you a field view of 155°. In addition to this, this camera also addresses a big issue of color-changing by adjusting itself according to the requirement so the shoot.

Portable design and outstanding video stabilization by HorizonSteady, Osmo Action 2 is decent for vlogging. Some higher-end camera models come with a dual-screen that helps you capture yourself without skipping a shot on your main stage. Charry on top, the camera has its own 32 GB storage that allows you to record and store videos without worrying about needing an extra storage medium.

This camera also has pretty good magnetic mounts that are handy for sports and action recording like fitness sessions. The touch screen on the camera is much better than other action cameras like GoPro and Insta360.

Specifications:

Camera dimensions: 44 × 55 × 35 mm, 120 grams
Camera type: Action camera
Lens Type: Mirrorless
Sensor type: CMOS sensor
Megapixel count: 12 MP
Monitor screen: 45 mm OLED touch screen
Stabilization: EIS up to 60 fps
Maximum picture resolution: 4K at 120 fps
Maximum continuous shooting speed: 7 fps
Storage type: Built-in 32 gigs of memory, Supports MicroSD card
Viewfinder: N/A
User expertise: Novice
Zoom: 4x digital zoom sponsored by HorizonSteady

Reason To Buy?

  • Very affordable action camera with 4K recording
  • Great video stabilization
  • Weatherproofing and high frames rate recording

Reason To Avoid?

  • Autofocus is not too good
  • Video quality can sometimes disturb in low light, so a proper source of light is required

Personal thoughts:

DJI has known for making gimble setups, and then they decided to enter the market of action cameras. I can confidently say that this was not a wrong decision. With the 4K video recording, image stabilization, affordable price, proofing from harsh weather, Osmo Action 2 can be a go-to choice for any fitness vlogger to cover a wide range of content without worrying about carrying a heavy DSLR with him/her.

5- Panasonic LUMIX GX85 (Panasonic Alternative Choice)

USER RATING: 4.6/5
4.4/5

Special Features:

  • Image stabilizations, highly accurate autofocus
  • Many customization options
  • Versatile and robust image quality
  • 4K video recording
  • A compact budget camera

Overview:

I got a chance to check LUMIX GX85 when I was invited to a private workshop by ZeeCam. And, you know what the best part of this camera is? High-quality images and affordable price segment. I have already discussed Panasonic G7 4K at number 3.

Both cameras have the same price. Then, what’s the difference between them and what camera you should go for? Let’s try to find the most suitable option for you.

LUMIX G7 was launched in 2015, while the LUMIX GX85 is comparatively one-year latest. Being the newest model, GX85 offers more resolutions to choose from. Plus, it also gives sensor-shift ability during image stabilization. On the side of the lens, both the cameras have the same 16 MP CMOS sensor. Contrary to G7, GX85 offers 5-axis dual image stabilization. This feature can be the most significant thing to differentiate between them as the vloggers usually go for better video quality.

Talking about the performance and quality of the GX85, due to more ranges of resolutions, LUMIX GX85 can perform both indoor and outdoor shooting heavily.

To overcome the shaky movements, the company offers in-body image stabilization. The icing on the cake is that this hardware-based stabilization is much better than EIS or OIS and lets you shoot a 4K video without any glitches.

LUMIX GX85 has high depth, and autofocus is improved from the last generation’s camera. AF is more accurate and precise at tracking, meaning you can quite comfortably shoot your object in the frame.

Yeah, GX85 supports wireless control and data sharing. You can watch the live view of your camera from your smartphone. No, there is no waterproofing, and if your shooting is outdoor, you may need to buy an extra protective sheet.

Specifications:

Camera dimensions: 122 x 71 x 44 mm, 426 grams
Camera type: Compact camera
Lens Type: Mirrorless, Interchangeable lens
Sensor type: 17.3 × 13.0 mm, Four-third CMOS sensor
Megapixel count: 16 MP
Monitor screen: 76 mm wide LCD screen with 1.04 million dots resolution
Stabilization: 5-axis dual image stabilization
Maximum picture resolution: 4K at 30 fps
Maximum shooting speed: 8.6 fps
Storage type: 1 slot, Supports SD, SDXC card (UHS-1)
Viewfinder: LCD EVF (Electronic viewfinder), 2.76 million dots resolution
User expertise: Beginner/Amateur
Zoom: 12x optical zoom

Reason To Buy?

  • Fast performance
  • 5-axis stabilization
  • excellent video production

Reason To Avoid?

  • Poor battery life
  • Sometimes, AF fails but adjust quite afterward

Personal thoughts:

So, with a sneak peek between both models of Panasonic in this list, you got a good picture of specifications. However, GX85 looks strong on paper, thanks to its image stabilization and high-resolution technologies. Yet, G7 is second to none as it has a speedy and accurate AF, which sometimes left its sibling behind in the competition. The race is tough, and I leave it up to you to choose between both cameras, being a vlogger.

6- Nikon Z7 (Best For Indoor Filming)

USER RATING: 4.6/5
4.5/5

Overview:

Let’s enter the big fish market of the cameras, and this time it is a powerful Z8 by Nikon. Debuted in 2018, Z7 delivers some state of art features in its body. It could be an all-around camera, perfect for vloggers.

It is not a hard nut to crack that this camera may not be beautiful in look, considering its bulkiness and significant volume. But don’t judge a book by its cover and have a look at its interior.

First, Nikon Z7 has a gigantic 45.7 MP lens with a BSI sensor. This sensor produces excellent images and videos, enriched with high contrast ratio, sharp and accurate autofocus, dazzling, dynamic range, and profound depth. For any vlogger, this camera can be a fantasy.

Apart from the 4K recording that this camera does pretty quickly, it also has a robust stabilization mechanism that reduces the vibration and fumbling of hands. Plus, high ISO sensitivity minimizes the noise in the videos quite effectively in the videos. What a masterpiece at this price!

Another feather in the cap is that the autofocus of the Z7 covers many fields of view, almost 90%. This means a fitness vlogger can easily cover an entire class with complete ease. Did I mention the EVF of the camera? Let us describe it in a single word “Superb.” With nine frames per second, you can take maximum continuous shoots with this camera. Hey vlogger, what are you waiting for now?

Specifications:

Camera dimensions: 134 x 100.5 x 67.5mm, 675 grams

Personal thoughts:

I hope that you have already read the overview of the Nikon Z7, and it covers all the specs of the camera. The price bracket and the qualities of the camera are just mind-blowing.

A vlogger who can choose this camera without a second thought, be it a newbie or an experienced one. If you can afford the camera, go for it. Otherwise, check out the camera that I placed at number 1, the Sony a7, which provides some excellent features and is a bit light on the pocket.

7- Fujifilm X-T4 (Best For Fitness Photography)

USER RATING: 4.5/5
4.4/5

Special Features:

  • 5-axis in-body image stabilizations
  • Multiple film modes
  • X-Processor 4 Image Processor
  • OLED EVF
  • A retro-styled flagship

Overview:

Again, I saw Fujifilm X-T4 in ZeeCam’s workshop. Like Nikon Z7, X-T4 also has a full-body metal design that retains its majestic look. But, a content creator, especially a fitness vlogger, hardly considers the body as much he/she wants to look at the video resolution, stabilization, and autofocus. So, let’s discuss them.

Man, the camera has a super sharp 26 MP lens with high precision in object tracking. Fujifilm has evolved a lot from the last generation. They gave special attention to image stabilization, employing 5-axis in-body image stabilization, a hardware-based technology. In addition to this, the shutter mechanism has also improved as it is quicker now and comes with ‘silent’ mode.

I have looked at many cameras with out-of-class specs, and their battery timing was not too good. But this is not the case without X-T4, as it has a good battery in its armor.

“Bleach Bypass” is another software-based new inclusion in the camera’s body. This feature helps you bypass the bleaching effect during the processing of the final video, a valuable part of fitness vlogging.

Oh, forgot to mention that X-T4 got two card slots so that you have no issue of running out of space. Overall, the design is quite intuitive and backed up by powerful performance.

Specifications:

Camera dimensions: 134.6 x 92.8 x 63.8mm, 607g
Camera type: DSLR
Lens Type: Mirrorless
Sensor type: X-Trans, CMOS full-frame BSI sensor
Megapixel count: 26.1 MP
Monitor screen: 76 mm wide big LCD screen with 1.62 million dots resolution
Stabilization: In-body image stabilization
Maximum picture resolution: 4K at 60 fps
Maximum continuous shooting speed: 7-15 fps
Storage type: Dual card slots, Supports SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card (UHS-II)
Viewfinder: OLED EVF (Electronic viewfinder), 3.69 million dots resolution
User expertise: Professional
Zoom: 1x optical zoom

Reason To Buy?

  • Strong metal body
  • Big sensor that produces excellent results
  • Remarkable autofocus
  • Big touch screen and excellent video quality

Reason To Avoid?

  • Heavy
  • Can be expensive
  • No headphone jack

Personal thoughts:

Personally, I would love to suggest the Fujifilm X-T4 as it has some specs to talk about. Everything on this camera is so perfect that you can’t find any flaws. It also has a widescreen and viewfinder with better image quality and processing power.

8- GoPro HERO10 Black (Budget Friendly Option)

USER RATING: 4.8/5
4.9/5

Special Features:

  • Weatherproof
  • Low light performance
  • TimeWarp 3.0 to capture hyper-lapse shots
  • Better battery
  • GPS, Wi-Fi and voice-enabled
  • 5.7K affordable action camera

Overview:

Another action camera, called GoPro HERO10 Black, is in my hands this time. This camera ships with some mind-bamboozling aspects.

Looking at the camera from a fitness vlogger perspective, HERO10 records videos not only at 4K, but it steps up the game by adding a 5.3K recording at 60 fps. No match for this resolution! In addition to this, the camera also got a class-leading stabilization to cover the small shakes and provide a smooth experience.

Yeah, I know the sensor is a bit small, which could also impact the video quality in the low light. But, the company is already offering too much at this small price, so you may have to spend some extra money for an additional light source.

Compared to the previous HERO 9, HERO10 offers fast wireless connections. It is dubbed with the latest wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a peach of a voice recognition feature.

You can control the cam from your phone and give instructions from there. Looks cool!

On the other hand, the camera’s body is small and is made of plastic. The design is compact, easy to carry, and feels robust in hand. Plus, HERO10 is resistant to weather strains. All these things for such a small price tag, you certainly don’t want to skip on this beautiful package.  I also reviewed different GoPro camera for vlogging, If you are interested you read here

Specifications:

Camera dimensions: 81 × 121 × 238 mm, 458 grams
Camera type: Action camera
Lens Type: Mirrorless
Sensor type: Not mentioned
Megapixel count: 23 MP
Monitor screen: 35 mm LCD front screen, 68 mm LCD back touch screen
Stabilization: HyperSmooth 4.0 powers the digital stabilization in the camera
Maximum picture resolution: 5.3K at 60 fps
Maximum continuous shooting speed: 35 fps
Storage type: 1 slot, supports MicroSD card (Required a faster one)
Viewfinder: N/A
User expertise: Intermediate
Zoom: 1x optical zoom

Reason To Buy?

  • Video stabilization is phenomenal
  • 5.7K recording at affordable rates
  • A lot of customization and options to opt from
  • Dual display gives you full control over the camera

Reason To Avoid?

  • Not a low-light performance king
  • Sometimes, it gets heated up

Personal thoughts:

Okay, HERO10 Black certainly offers some good points. A big deal at such a small price, isn’t it? Although, the camera needs a bit of improvement. The battery is good but not too much compared to DJI Osmo Action. Yes, it offers 5.7K at this price, but who has a screen to watch at this high resolution? On the other hand, the camera also has some world-class wireless technologies.

So, being a fitness vlogger, if you are looking to invest in some action cameras, I offer you to read a comparison of action cameras of DJI Osmo Action and GoPro HERO10 Black in this list of best cameras for fitness vlogging.

9- Canon EOS RP (For Pro Camera Users Only)

USER RATING: 4.4/5
4.4/5

Special Features:

  • DIGIC 8 Image Processor
  • Fast autofocus
  • Decent quality 4K videos and images
  • Multiple customization options
  • Wireless connectivity
  • Affordable and versatile camera

Overview:

Last but not least, I reviewed another higher-end camera, EOS RP, sponsored by Canon. This camera provides some great features, especially at this price range. Let’s have a look at them.

EOS RP has a 26.2 MP full-frame sensor that can record at 4K resolution with 24 frames per second. And this fantastic video shooting is powered by impressive image stabilization. Although there is no stabilization for the 4K recording, at least you can do this at 2K recording without any frame drop or shakiness.

EOS RP has an effective autofocus. Yeah, not as good as the SONY a7R II camera, but it can easily track human bodies and their motions. And, that’s all matters for a fitness vlogger. Again, this autofocus is not available for a 4K recording. But as I mentioned earlier, not everyone is sitting in front of 4K displays, so you don’t need to worry about this.

The screen is bright and touch-controlled, and also the viewfinder is sparkling. EOS RP has a compact DSLR body whose frame is entirely made of plastic. Yet, it seems solid and sturdy in the hands. The buttons are tight in place and are responsive. Ports are covered with rubber sealing to give some protection from the environment. For a fitness creator, this camera has all the necessary things.

Specifications:

Camera dimensions: 133 x 85 x 70 mm, 485 g
Camera type: DSLR
Lens Type: Mirrorless
Sensor type: 35.9mm x 24.0mm, CMOS full-frame sensor
Megapixel count: 26.2 MP
Monitor screen: 77 mm LCD screen with 1.04 million resolutions
Stabilization: Optical image stabilization (Not for 4K recording)
Maximum picture resolution: 4K at 24 fps
Maximum continuous shooting speed: 5 fps
Storage type: Supports SD / SDHC / SDXC cards (UHS-II)
Viewfinder: LCD EVF (Electronic viewfinder), 2.36M dot resolution
User expertise: Advanced
Zoom: 4.38x

Reason To Buy?

  • Autofocus is good
  • Screen is bright and operatable under sunlight
  • Good overall video stabilization
  • Decent video quality

Reason To Avoid?

  • Short battery life
  • Feels bulky in the hand
  • No image stabilization at 4K recording

Personal thoughts:

EOS RP is a masterpiece from Canon that brings photography and video recording to the masses. It houses a 26 MP sensor coupled with image stabilization. The autofocus is quite good, but sometimes it needs to adjust manually. A person thinking of spending some money on a camera for fitness coverage can give it a shot or consider Sony a7R II, which offers some extraordinary results with a little higher price than this camera.
